About Big Bold Youth
About Big Bold Youth. We were founded in 2015 and established in 2017 as a not-for-profit Community Interest Company, with a mission to provide affordable and accessible drama activities for young people across the UK. Starting with three free school workshops in Grimbsy, the organisation now runs regular drama activities for 6-18 year olds across Buckinghamshire and Surrey, with more than 70 weekly students, as well as school workshops across the country.
Our main policy is acceptance therefore, we want every child to have the opportunity to experience drama, even if they don’t wish to forge a career as an actor. There are huge benefits to be gained from joining a local drama group, from building confidence to improving communication. Whether your joining one of our weekly classes or enjoying an action packed school workshop, we have created an educational framework to guide our students through the process of developing skills in acting, voice and movement.
We pride ourselves on having some of the most passionate teaching staff around, all of whom are working industry professionals and have trained at some of the country’s leading drama schools. There has been so much positive feedback about Big Bold Youth: from the ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ reviews by parents to the smiles on our students’ faces. We thoroughly believe that drama is integral to a child’s education and we are hugely proud to be part of their development.
Our mission is to provide drama activities for young people that are both affordable and accessible across the UK. We believe that drama is an integral part of a child’s education, and can provide invaluable life skills which are transferable regardless of what career path you take. Unfortunately, in today’s economic climate, prices are rising for services are rising while wages are struggling to keep up. Children love drama. They always have and always will. For a family with three kids on a lower income, paying out £750 upfront for their children to enjoy drama for a few hours per week is a large commitment. This is why we not only look provide scholarships and free places where possible, but our fees (regardless of your income) start at just £5.25 per session. That’s just £189 for the full year. Plus, we offer 50% off for siblings. We are also receiving an increasing number of calls regarding other activity providers struggling to accomodate students with disabilities. Part of our ethos is that every child should have the opportunity to study drama, regardless of any disabilities. This is why we work with parents to accomodate every student and train all our staff in Special Educational Needs. You can find more on accessibility here. As a not-for-profit, we rely on the support of both the public and businesses to help us grow and provide even more young people with the opportunity to experience the wonderful world of drama. Help us today with a small donation.
We pride ourselves on providing the very best experience for our students, while mainting affordability and accessibility. Our teaching staff have trained at some of the country’s leading drama schools and have been in various productions, ranging from the BBC to the Disney Channel. We only employ industry professionals to teach our students to ensure that they get the very best training possible. They all have a passion for inspiring the younger generations, and are aware of the impact drama can have in a child’s life. We look for staff that will always go the extra mile to help students achieve their potential. As an organisation, we don’t franchise and we never will. Every activity and every school is managed and operated by the same team, maintaining high quality experiences across the board. Furthermore, all our teaching staff are trained in child protection and Special Educational Needs, and there is always a First Aider on site at all times. All our schools have at least one teacher and assistant drama teacher per class. This is not only for safeguarding purposes, but also to give every student as much help as needed. Staff undergo regular update training sessions throughout the year to maintain our high quality teaching and there is constant communication between them and HQ. Interested in joining the team? ★★★★★ My 7 year old boy loves his weekly drama class! He is so excited to go each week. Definitely worth giving a go!
★★★★★ My son Roscoe thoroughly enjoyed the session. He is now doing the Monday regularly session.
★★★★★ “Because I loved being a bunny”. He really enjoys the Monday night classes and was looking forward to today. As a parent, it is always nice to see him doing something that isn’t sport related and challenges him in different ways. It’s nice to see what the children learnt at the end as well
